1st Year - Autumn Term

This is a practical course where students will learn elements of art such as line, colour, texture, light, shape and form through various experiments. They will also learn how to compose these elements using principles of design such as balance, harmony, rhythm, emphasis etc.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • observe aesthetically the values of fundamentals of art
  • compose their art work by following the principles of art
  • trace the significance of fundamentals of visual arts in artistic creation
  • analyze the importance of elements of art in visual making process
  • apply various dimensions of visual concepts to create a body of artwork
  • visualize principles of any art work

This course has a theoretical orientation where the student will be taught about the meaning, role, and functions of art along with basic concepts related to it. Students will also get an overview of timeline in India and west to understand the historical development of art.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • focus on the relevant meanings in art
  • discuss the elements of art in reference to the artworks
  • enumerate the different disciplines of fine art

Provide basic introduction of environment and its various components and impart knowledge about the need, various policies and methods to protect environment.

This is a practical course where the students will learn about the basic of drawing mediums and techniques. From various gradings of pencils to shading and crosshatching, the aim will be to learn the basics of drawing through observation.

  • describe the visual language of drawing
  • imagine an artwork using elements of art
  • develop their creativity by means of drawing
  • assess and enhance their concept drawing skills

Introduction to fundamentals of art, tools and techniques of painting and its applications with aesthetic values.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • trace the evaluation of painting in historical perspective
  • analyze the role of form and content in the painting
  • apply the various method and materials in painting
  • identify basic skills to capture the concept of traditional painting

This is a practical course where the students will learn about the basic modelling of 3D form. The student will explore sculptural form after a basic understanding of working with clay modelling and mould making and casting.

  • experiment with tools and techniques
  • analyze properties and characteristics of clay
  • construct the three-dimensional composition in clay modeling
  • develop visual awareness in three-dimensional ways of thinking and creating

This is a theoretical subject covers history of Indian art from prehistoric era to modern .

  • analyze Indian history on the basis of artistic objects
  • discuss the timeline of evolution of Indian art
  • understand different style and techniques
  • visualize the Indian history religion, culture, literature and philosophy

Graphic tools is a software based course where the student will learn a vector based program, basic tools and techniques to create a digital design. Students will attempt creation of simple graphic designs in Coreldraw.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • ANALYZE , synthesize, and utilize design processes and strategy from concept to delivery to creatively solve communication problems.
  • APPLY graphic design principles in the ideation, development, and production of visual messages.
  • USE relevant applications of tools and technology in the creation, reproduction, and distribution of visual messages.
  • ANALYZE communication solutions that address audiences and contexts, by recognizing the human factors that determine design decisions.

Introduction to the fundamentals of photography, camera techniques and its applications with aesthetic value

This is a practical course which will give orientation to the students on construction of a three dimensional form using material other than clay. They may explore mediums such as wire, board, scrap or any other traditional or non traditional material

Nature study is a practical subject for improving observation skills from outdoor.

Introduces the methods and techniques of traditional printmaking processes which includes intaglio, relief and monotype.

2st Year - Autumn Term

The subject is designed to encourage the habit of basic sketching through observation.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • visualize to make a detailed drawing that gets every element perfect of nature
  • understand how a sketch can be very useful to artists of all mediums
  • develop sketch in any major vertical or horizontal line with correct proportion and perspective
  • make quick sketches to capture movement and character

4st Year - Autumn Term

This course focuses on the development of perception and awareness of major architectural monuments, historical sites, and public spaces through two-dimensional architectural renderings performed in situ. Freehand perspective drawings will be created in black and white, with color as applicable. Mediums of presentation will vary from pencil to pen.

  • understand how to sketch buildings from various perspectives
  • develop sketches and depict various kinds of structures
  • identify characters of buildings and their environments

This is a theory course which will introduce the student to five most important ancient civilizations of the world. The course will include Egyptian, Chinese, Mesopotamian, Greek and Indus Valley civilization.

  • identify geographic and agricultural factors that shaped the development of early civilizations.
  • distinguish , compare, and contrast key cultural and political characteristics of advanced ancient societies.

  • analyze the political, economic, social, and cultural evolution of South Asian and Chinese civilizations in the Post-Classical era
